For reference, the price range of Magotan currently on sale is 186,900-253,900 yuan.
In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the latest design language of Volkswagen family, and its shape is simpler and younger. Specifically, the front face of the new car cancels the design method of multi-banner chrome grille of the previous generation model. The new car adopts narrow-banner grille design, adopts black middle net, and is connected with headlight groups on both sides. The center is decorated with a chrome trim strip, and the center is inlaid with luminous Volkswagen brand LOGO, which has high visual effect and recognition after lighting. In addition, the new car also adjusts the shape of the front bumper. The bottom surrounding design with black "C" decoration below makes the new car more sporty. The lower side of the front logo is also equipped with a camera, which has richer visual effects than the old models.
On the side of the car body, the lines of the new car are smooth, and the upper and lower waistlines are designed. The C-pillar has a large inclination, creating a visual effect of a small slip back. An independent small side window shape is designed in the C-pillar area, and the roof is equipped with a shark fin antenna. With the traditional door handle design, the overall look is relatively fashionable. In addition, the new car offers a new 19-inch rim and double color matching, which is matched with Goodyear Eagle F1 tire, with a size of 245/40 R19. In terms of dimensions, the length, width and height of the new car are 4990/1854/1487mm and the wheelbase is 2871mm respectively. In contrast, the length, width and height of Magotan currently on sale are 4866/1832/1479mm and the wheelbase is 2871 mm. In contrast, the length of the new car increased by 124mm, the width increased by 22mm, the height increased by 8mm, and the wheelbase remained unchanged.
At the rear of the car, the new car adopts a penetrating taillight group that echoes the front face, which is similar to the L style of Ling Du. In the interior part, the changes in new cars are particularly obvious. The new car uses a large area of plastic-lined and leather-wrapped materials to make the car more comfortable. The new car is equipped with a 12.25-inch full LCD instrument, a 15-inch central control screen and an 11.6-inch auxiliary driving screen. The car system adopts Qualcomm 8155 chip, which supports mainstream interconnection functions such as CarPlay and CarLife. The steering wheel continues to use the semi-touch steering wheel, and the physical buttons and shift lever are cancelled, replaced by the rotary shift lever operation, and the storage space under the central control becomes larger.
In terms of power, the new car offers a high-power version of the 2.0T engine and a 1.5T engine, of which the maximum power of the high-power version of the 2.0T engine is 162kW and the maximum power of the 1.5T engine is 118kW.. For reference, the current Magotan offers 1.4T engine and 2.0T high/low power engine.
Volkswagen Magotan originated from FutureB6, which is closely related to Passat B6. It is the first B-class car produced by FAW-Volkswagen after it built its factory. Starting from B6, Volkswagen B-class cars began to be produced in FAW-Volkswagen, namely Magotan Magotan series. In July 2007, FAW-Volkswagen’s first domestic B-class car, Magotan, was introduced to China. Since then, it has become a classic representative of German medium-sized cars. In 2017 and 2018, it won the B-class car sales crown, when the annual sales exceeded 200,000 respectively. However, with the rise of independent brands, Magotan’s market position has also been shaken to some extent. According to retail data, Camry, Passat and Magotan ranked in the top three in the list of medium-sized cars in 2023, with sales of 225,500, 191,000 and 189,400 respectively.
As a classic model in the field of medium-sized cars, FAW-Volkswagen Magotan and SAIC-Volkswagen Passat are sister models, and they mainly compete with Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and other medium-sized cars in the automobile market. The latest retail data shows that after entering 2024, Passat ranked first for two consecutive months, of which the sales volume in January was 22,313, and in February it was 11,641, but it was replaced by mercedes benz c class in March; The sales of Magotan in January-March were 16,593, 10,217 and 12,252 respectively.
