After the new round of conflict between Palestine and Israel broke out, the number of customers in Israeli gun shops and shooting training grounds surged to a record high. The Israeli authorities have set up hundreds of voluntary security groups composed of civilians throughout the country and equipped them with weapons such as guns. These members of the civil security group patrol the streets and cooperate with the police. The purpose is to prevent conflicts between Arabs and Jews in Israel. Ithama Ben-Gewell, Israel’s Minister of National Security, has ordered the relaxation of restrictions on Israeli citizens’ obtaining gun licenses.
